Alessandro Altavilla is carrying out a PhD at Goldsmiths, University of London, funded by European Research Council (ERC). His research is focused on embodied sonic and musical interactions mediated by digital technology. He studied computer music in Bari (Italy), and has a Master of Research in Digital Media from Culture Lab Newcastle (UK). He has worked with the textile artist Berit Greinke, presenting workshops on participatory sound design for e-textile interfaces in KHB (Berlin) and KHiB (Bergen, Norway). He is also a sound designer and composer for cinema, recently working with the filmmaker Giacomo Abbruzzese (Archipel, Fireworks). As sound artist, his works, performances and installations have been shown at Biennale of Art in Marrakech, Turin Film Festival, Invisible Architectures (Newcastle Upon Tyne, UK) and Alchemy Film and Moving Image Festival (Hawick, Scotland).
