The TROPE team exhibited a new artwork ‘Conversio‘, at the Frequency festival in Lincoln. ‘Conversio’ was specially commissioned for the prime festival site of Posterngate where a roman wall is preserved, 10 feet under the streets of the town centre. In ‘Conversio’ the boundaries of the new medium of screen-less animation were pushed further opening up an even larger field of possibilities for the diasynchronic technique as now real objects can be animated, freeing the team from the more basic platonic solids of previous artworks.

TROPE is also going to present a paper at the Seeing Sound conference in Bath, 23-24 November.
The paper is entitled ‘Screams of an acorn – The Diasynchronoscope and new ideas in the morphology of audiovision’ – it takes their recent visual music artwork Stylus as a case study. The focus of this paper is on how ideas in audiovisual research have informed the genesis of the Diasynchronoscope and, in turn, how formalisms developed in the Diasynchronoscope may inform current audiovisual practice. Finally, TROPE is busy creating another new installation, Gaffer, which will be exhibited at TENDERPIXEL (in Leicester Square, London) between 29 November 2013 and 11 January 2014.
