Miha Ciglar, director at IRZU – Institute for Sonic Arts Research and CEO at Ultrasonic audio technologies, will present and demonstrate the latest research developments of both institutions. Particular attention will be devoted to the analysis of two different although technologically very related projects/products: Syntact and Acouspade.
Syntact is new musical interface which uses computer vision and high energy focused ultrasound in order to generate interactive contact free tactile feedback to the musician.
Acouspade is a directional speaker system which uses modulated ultrasound in order to create a narrow beam of audible sound. Some common problems of non linear-acoustics concerning the phenomenon of directional sound will be examined, pointing out future research directions.
