Hackathon on Interactive Computer-Generated Audiovisuals: Call for Participation

There is a growing interest in audiovisual (AV) performance and composition. We would like to investigate if the tools for AV performance and composition have caught up with the growing interest and practices in the field. In particular, we would like to explore issues such as audience involvement, interaction design, ease of use, and computer-generated audiovisuals in these tools.

To address these issues, we are organizing a 2-day (7 hours/day) hackathon on the topic of Interactive Computer-Generated Audiovisuals. During the hackathon, we will develop functioning prototypes of software tools for audiovisual performance. Participation in the hackathon is free of charge. Code from the different prototypes will be used in software to be finalized after the hackathon, and released as open-source.

The hackathon will take place on the 6th and 7th December 2014, from 11am to 6pm, at the Goldsmiths Digital Studios (http://www.gold.ac.uk/gds/), at Goldsmiths, University of London. It will be conducted by Nuno Correia (https://www.doc.gold.ac.uk/eavi/eavi.goldsmithsdigital.com/staff/dr-nuno-correia/), in collaboration with Video Hackspace (http://www.videohackspace.com).

Participants should have the following profile/experience:

• basic knowledge of programming (ability to develop a software prototype); and
• interest (or experience) in audiovisual performance.

Please register for the workshop here, until 28th November:
