PEOPLE LIKE US & GWILLY EDMONDEZ

As People Like us, Vicki Bennett has pioneered audio-visual collage, working with artists such as Matmos and Wobbly, moving from the hilarious to the terrifying, whilst always remaining utterly brilliant. At EAVI X she will be playing in a duo with Gwilly Edmondez, a legendary Newcastle based improviser who works with voice, dictaphone and almost anything he can lay his hands on. On a personal note, a performance by Gwilly first introduced me to, and led me to fall in love with, free improvisation. He changed my life – WILL HE CHANGE YOURS?

PHIL MINTON & DAVID TOOP

This duo unites for the first time two giants of free improvisation. Phil Minton has ploughed a unique and thrilling furrow of vocal improvisation, combining virtuosic extended techniques with a dissection of language and communication itself. David Toop is known as both an improviser and a writer, and through both of these methods he somehow gets to the heart of how we think about sound in our lives, whether we are listening, playing or both.

INGRID PLUM

Ingrid Plum combines extended vocal technique, field recordings, feedback and electronics to mix soundscapes, spoken word and songs into a shape-shifting live set that is a mixture of playful and meditative. The intimacy Plum creates in her recordings and live performance has the honesty of a confessional with the sparse sonic scope of the forests and open coastlines of her native Denmark.

SOUNDWWWALK: #browserpop
It’s quite hard to describe the brilliance of soundwwwalk (visit the website): through the soundwwwalk, Viennese artist and musician Bernhard Garnicnig has created an utterly unique way of performing with a computer, that is simultaneously transparent yet magical. For the #browserpop project, he will be working with Sam Slater to create pop music through combining the various sonic flora and fauna of the internet.

DJs Chloe Frieda (Alien Jams / NTS) + Team GBH
We are pleased to welcome back Mike Corcoran and Daniel Neofetou as Team GBH, who for this EAVI will be joined by Chloe Frieda. As Alien Jams, Chloe runs a fantastic radio show on NTS (go listen to ntsive.co.uk!), and has now established Alien Jams as a label with releases from Design a Wave and oMMM. Daniel and Mike also make great music you should check out (and we hope one day hear live at an EAVI night)…

In short: from 8 until 2 on the 15th of January, we intend to fill the Amersham Arms with some rather brilliant music, and we hope you can join us.
